NWN Motorsports Street Car Challenge Bremerton 2015

On July 11th 2015, NWN Motorsports held their Street Car Challenge in Bremerton, this marked their 2nd time holding the event at Bremerton Raceway.

Again, NWN Motorsports invite the most fastest street cars in the NW area, and the people responded. The power listed cars ranging from a 1500hp Viper, a 1000hp GTR, to a 800hp Integra. The event consisted of two types of racing; 1/4 mile drag racing or 1/3 mile rolling start from flag to flag measuring 1600ft. This was all done at Bremerton Raceway in Bremerton, WA where they hold countless 1/4 mile drag racing as well as SCCA/Autocross events.

The Street Car Challenge was a two day event, starting on Saturday July 11th. On Saturday, 180 participants rolled in and filled the park, getting ready to unload their vehicles, and to prep their cars for the battle that was about to unfold that day.

There was one event a lot of people were looking forward to on the 1st day, and that was the King of the Streets event. It consisted of 12 of the biggest hard hitters in the NW! The winner would take home $1100 in cash, while the runner up would take $100. The battle was tough, and some had to retire from breaking down, be it from breaking something in the trans, or lifting a head. But in the end Chris Stewart in his Turbo Auto C5Z took home the prize and title of King of the Streets!

On the second day of the event, majority of the races went by quick. The reason being was that there were less people and majority of the crowd attended the first day, so the races went by super fast, and the participants that day didn't complain.

There were also a lot of grudge matches between some of the high HP cars that raced prior the day before, and wanted to rematch since something might've happened the day before or maybe because they didn't had the time to race each other.

At the end of the dayNWN Motorsports pulled of another fun and exciting racing event for everyone in the NW, and it was an awesome event showcasing what kind of cars we have here in the NW.

Northwest Night Motorsports held their 2 annual 1/3 mile roll race and 1/4 mile drag race at Bremerton Raceway in Bremerton, WA.

NWN Street Car Challenge Spokane WA

On May 30th to the 31st Northwest Night Motorsport hosted their second annual Street Car Challenge in Spokane, WA.

There were various kinds of cars at the event that were putting down a wide range of power from as low as 98hp to as much as 1500hp. This meant that just a regular 1/4 mile run just isn't enough road to showcase what theses high HP cars can really do when pushed to it's limits. So NWN Motorsports and Spokane Raceways agreed on creating a roll race event down the drag strip. The race would include a rolling start of 40mph to the pit lanes to the staging lights and ending 1600ft down the strip where the car would be judged by fastest mph.

A lot of the competitors were having some difficulty with their vehicles due to the fact that they were running a lot of slower times than they were familiar to. This was due to the higher elevation , as well as the hotter temperatures over the weekend. Elevation was around 2200ft, and the temperature was around 85 degrees, making the Density Altitude (DA) to around 5000ft, causing a lot of car to run rich resulting in slower times. Some competitors didn't have that problem, since some of them had their own means to retune their vehicles on the spot. This gave some competitors an advantage over others, resulting in some unforeseen wins.

At the end of the event, Four awards went out to the lucky few out of the many that attended.

During the event, competitors were given the chance to have two lovely ladies model with either themselves of with their vehicles. Their names are Nooni, and Rachel.

2014 Hot Import Nights Seattle

Hot Import Nights...a scene that keeps the old ways true to when Fast and the Furious first came out and underglow, lights, screen tv's, and import models were a fashion in the car community. This year was no exception, a lot of people learned from last year when HIN returned to the NW after so long that underglow, and lighting were essential in making the judges notice your ride.

The show was held at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA. It was a long day for all of the competitors that day. All of the competitors had to arrive by 11am, Set up until 5pm then wait, have fun till the show closed at 11pm. During the show, the main attraction was getting a photo taken, or getting poster signed be the lovely Import model Dannei Riel. There was also the lovely models from IHeartModels.com that preformed some gogo dancing on stage.

As the night came closing to an end the trophies were handed out, some people were overjoyed, some were disappointed, but one person could not stop smiling that whole night, Robert Kothenbeutel, the owner of a 2006 Evo 9 took home Best Mitsubishi and Best of Show.

2014 Formula Drift Rd 5

Formula Drift.....A sport well known to most car enthusist around the world. An automotive sport where the competitors go head to head with each other by sliding around the set course at a high rate of speed, shredding tires, and spilling gobs of smoke to awaiting spectators that thirst for more.

This year, was no exception. I found myself again behind the elusive fence, yellow line, and far off concrete barricade while I watch a few of my friends tracking their photo shots track-side by the fast paced smoking machines. It was heart breaking, but it didn't stop me from attaining glorious shots of my own.

The two days of Formula Drift consisted mostly of practice runs on the first day, while on the second day, the main car show was put together while eliminations for both Pro-Am and Formula Drift competitors converged.

On Friday, I got the chance to hang out with the crew from Ozzy Motors and with local drifter Mike Phillips. Mike Phillips was piloting his V8 powered, Star and Striped Nissan 240. During some of Mikes practice runs, I was able to get some in-car footage of how much skill is needed to go sideways on these kind of courses, while maintaining high speeds and angle. It was a very fun experience to follow a team and see how much dedication they have for the sport.

2014 East vs West

DTP Racewars and KS Tuned decided to host a East vs West drag racing competition to see who has the fastest street car in WA.
The competition was held at a private airstrip in Royal City, WA where volunteers prepped the track with VHT, a burnout box and a drag racing bracket tree.

The event was was definitely a hot day, reaching almost in the tripple digits, but that didn't stop the racers, vendors and spectators to come out and see who will take the title of King of East vs West.

The competition was fierce, ranging from a 600hp turbo Civic to a 1000hp C6 ZR1.
there was a total of 22 participants, 11 from the west and 11 from the east. There was a $40 buy-in with a total purse of $880, $40 to the runner up and $840 to the winner.

In the end, it all came down to two cars...representing for the West side was Chris Stewart driving his TT Auto C5 ZO6 Corvette against Adam Bryan in his TT C6 ZO6 Corvette that's representing for the East side. As the the tree lit, Adam in his TT C6 ZO6got the jump, but the soon enough Chris reeled Adam in and crossed the finish and the win by a little more than a couple of car lengths, giving Chris Stewart the title of King of Racewars for the first East vs West event, a trophy, and $840 richer. Runner up, Adam Bryan got $40, a trophy and a determination to take the title away from the West side in the next event.

Driftcon 2014

Driftcon, this was a new event that was started by ImportMeet. They decided to showcase their idea at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA; home of one of the Formula Drift Events held every year. Driftcon showcased a variety at the event including drifting, a car show that was literally right by the track, food, beer, and a crowd that was loving every second of it.

The drifting consisted to two different categories; Pro Am and Tandem. This gave the audience a great amount of drifting to high speed drifts on the 5/8ths to multiple tandem drifts on the 3/8ths. We got to see as much as six car tandem drifting at one time!

Throughout the whole event, hints of rain clouds surrounded the area, but to everyones surprise, it stayed away till it finally down-poured during the award ceremony. Others see it to be bad luck, but I like to think it as a blessing to those who helped make this event as fun as I thought it was.

DTP Racwars 2014

Again, I went to the eastern side of WA to a little city named Royal City to cover the 2014 DTP Racewars.
If you haven't heard, this event is sanctioned on a private runway, where they close it down to do a heads up drag racing style to see who has the fastest street car. They go down a measured 1/4 mile strip, as well as starting at NHRA Sportsman Tree.
This year, the amount of people were astonishing, it was well over a thousand people at the event. Around noon we were seeing people on the highway still trying to make it in to the event.
At the end of the event, a lot of people were satisfied, and some went home with disappointments, but all in all the event went smoothly as it could. It's faun, great event to attend, and the drive out there was just as good, just make sure to bring a lot of sunscreen, and water.

NissanFest 2014

On April 19th 2014, I headed to Monroe, WA to cover media at Evergreen Speedway for the 2014 NissanFest Event. It was my first time shooting there, and I was excited to see what it looks like track side while the competitors fly by you at a high rate of speed.

Unfortunately, the weather didn't hold up and it started to rain throughout the event. It was a little difficult to take pictures all the while, trying to keep the camera equipment dry and operational, but that's part of life here in the Pacific NW.

Well all in all it was a great experience getting a different view of the event, and I'm glad I got to experience it, rain and all.

I had the privilage to hang out with a great group of people over the weekend for the 2013 NissanFest over at the Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA. I had the honor to interview the owner of a one of a kind R34 GT-R.

His passion for cars started when he was living in Okinawa, Japan for some years, it grew even more some when he moved back to the states. He shares his passion with his family, his son Dante has a R33 GT-R, and his wife Monica drives a R35 GT-R, you could say that they're a real GT-R family.
